Vienna: The city of music and quality of life

Did you know that Vienna is currently considered as the third-best European capital regarding quality of life? It is also one of the richest cities in the world, attracting 12 million visitors annually.

Europe’s seventh-biggest city is also the second-biggest German-speaking city in the world. Over 1.6 million people live in Vienna, making it the most populous city in Austria.

Currently, the city’s image is mainly marked by the Baroque, especially from the period of the regency of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Franz Joseph, who ordered the splendid Ringstraße avenue to be built.

Regarding culture, the city is an important classical music centre and is often referred to as the City of Music. Many famous composers lived and made their mark here, including Franz Schubert, Strauss, Beethoven and Haydn. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the best on the planet, the State Opera (Staatsoper) belongs to one of the most important in the world and the youngsters of the Vienna Boys’ Choir, the Wiener Sängerknaben, enthral music lovers!

Thanks to the fusion of tradition in the cafés and Heuriger (typical Austrian taverns) and the modern features of the restaurants, shops and famous international events, anyone visiting Vienna will experience a unique sensation combining contemplation and activeness. Additionally, the outskirts of Vienna offer a vast array of green spaces which can be admired and enjoyed for relaxation in the summer, including the Wienerwald (Vienna Woods), the Praterauen and the Danube Island (Donauinsel).

Now Vienna is even closer to the Algarve, Alentejo and southern Spain. What about getting to know this city? Fly from Faro Airport with Lauda Motion on Thursdays and Sundays, and see for yourself!
