Manchester: The perfect destination for leisure, Erasmus student exchanges or business

Birthplace of the band Oasis and The Smiths, Manchester breathes music and culture. It is a clean and organised city with an efficient transport system. It is no coincidence that the city was chosen as one of the 10 best destinations to visit in 2016, by Lonely Planet.

It’s not difficult to combine business, studies and leisure.

Manchester was the cradle of the Industrial Revolution. And there are still many factories in the city to this day. It is also home to world-famous companies, including Amazon. Manchester is investing even more in its business development and is planning a new district focusing on the fields of media and technology. It is expected that Manchester will be become one of the biggest and fastest-growing European cities in these sectors.

If you have a busy day planned, you could start with a traditional Chinese brunch (dim-sum) in Chinatown (our favourites are the prawn dumplings and the mango pudding). To help digest your meal, you could visit one of the football stadiums (ManU or Manchester City). And since this is a day to discover “cathedrals”, it’s worth paying a visit to Manchester Cathedral. Towards the end of the afternoon, try to visit the Town Hall, seat of the municipal council. For dinner, we suggest you eat at one of the Asian restaurants on Curry Mile. Then, after dinner, you will be able to explore the Castlefield area, symbol of the Industrial Revolution and, today, home to a host of bars and pubs. What better way to round off the day?
