Business Fairs and Exhibitions in Europe

Europe is a veritable power in many segments, business included.

In 2017, Europe’s GDP involved transactions amounting to 15 million euros and 64% of trading between European countries takes place within Europe. As far as the export and import sector is concerned, Europe represents 15.6% on a worldwide basis. So being surrounded by major financial and trading hubs is very facilitating. It is a great privilege to be able to travel to various countries on the same day and fit in meetings, conferences and negotiations.

It is a known fact that you can have the best technology in the world, but it is the actual person who clinches the deal: the way in which you present yourself, how you demonstrate your usefulness to your customer or partner, and your network of contacts. And what better way to expand your network and make new contacts than by attending your sector’s main events?

Below we have provided a list of just a few business events, exhibitions and fairs in Europe, for a range of sectors. All of these destinations can be reached by a single direct flight from Faro Airport.

London: 1 – 2 May, Retail Design Expo and Signage Expo

The Retail Design Expo and Signage Expo are two fairs in one, taking place in London on 1 and 2 May. The events address topics such as technology, design and digital signage.The venue will be the Olympia Exhibition Centre.

From March, Faro Airport will be offering 148 flights a week (!) to London with British Airways, BA CityFlyer, Ryanair, easyJet, Norwegian and Jet2. Unmissable!

Aarhus: 2 – 4 May, European Wireless

From 2 to 4 May, Aarhus will be hosting the 25th European Wireless fair, where the main theme will be “Wireless Futures in the Era of Network Programmability”. The fair is a great opportunity to make new contacts, find out about the latest wireless trends and take part in discussions about the event’s main theme.

From the end of March, SAS will be operating direct flights to Aarhus on Saturdays from Faro Airport.

Brussels: 7 – 9 May Seafood Expo Global

Brussels will be staging the Seafood Expo Global, the biggest event in sales, distribution, storage and logistics of fish, seafood and every kind of food related to the sea. There will 1,940 exhibitors from 78 different countries; in 2018, the event attracted 29,100 professional visitors. This year’s fair will be taking place from 7 to 9 May.

Faro Airport offers direct flights to Brussels with Ryanair, TuiFly and Brussels Airlines.

Barcelona: 14 – 17 May, Barcelona Building Construmat

From 14 to 17 May, Barcelona will become the nerve centre for civil construction, architecture and interior design, as it hosts the Barcelona Building Construmat fair. The venue for the event is the Fira Barcelona, Gran Via. This is a great opportunity to do business and become acquainted with the city.

It takes just under two hours to fly to Barcelona from Faro Airport. Beginning in March, Vueling operates direct flights to Barcelona on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Munich: 4 – 7 June, Transport Logistic

This charming German city will be hosting the Transport Logistic exhibition from 4 to 7 June, at Messe München. This is one of the leading fairs in the field of logistics, mobility and supply management.

From the end of March, you can fly to Munich with Lufthansa on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, or with Eurowings on Mondays and Wednesdays. It’s well worth visiting!

Porto: 6 – 7 June – FIN 2019 – International Business Fair

On 6 and 7 June, Porto will be the venue for FIN 2019 – International Business Fair. FIN is a fair that offers a combination of exhibitions, workshops, seminars and business matching meetings. Ryanair flies direct from Faro to Porto every day. Prefer an event closer to home? This is an excellent opportunity!

Madrid: 20 June, Open Expo

Madrid will be home to Open Source on 20 June 2019! The Open Expo fair will have seven conference rooms and is the main congress on free software in Europe. An excellent opportunity to learn more about the subject and for networking with the right people.

Madrid is always a good choice! Get there from Faro Airport with Iberia on Thursdays and Sundays.

Cologne: 5 – 9 October, ANUGA

Cologne is the venue for one of the biggest food industry fairs in the world: ANUGA. The event will be taking place from 5 to 9 October with 7,405 exhibitors and an estimated 165,000 visitors.

From Faro, Ryanair flies to Cologne on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and Eurowings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Business has never been better in Cologne.

Lisbon: 4 – 7 November, Web Summit

Everybody knows Lisbon is an amazing destination. The city also hosts Europe’s biggest technology fair: Web Summit. The event has been taking place since 2009, and in 2019 it will be held at Lisbon’s Altice Arena from 4 to 7 November. And Lisbon is right around the corner!

Faro Airport offers four direct flights a day to Lisbon, operating daily from March… with TAP.
