Aarhus: Danish for “progress”

Southern Portugal and Spain are closer to Denmark. Fly from Faro Airport to Aarhus with SAS Scandinavian.

The city is attractive both by day and by night, with plenty to occupy early birds and night owls alike. During the day, Aarhus is a cheerful city replete with museums, parks and a splendid cathedral. By night, there is also lots to do and the city becomes the stage for entertainment and parties galore.

The European Capital of Culture in 2017, Aarhus is Bohemian and lively, perhaps due to a large percentage of its population being young people. In Aarhus, parties and low-cost entertainment are the rule.

But don’t be fooled! Aarhus is also a great destination if you just want to relax, discover the culture, sample the gastronomy or simply wander around and soak up the local ambience.

Places that should be on your must-do list: Den Gamble By, art museum ARoS Aarhus KunstmuseumMoesgaard, the Botanic Garden, and the magnificent Gothic building of Aarhus Cathedral.

Aarhus is packed with bars, pubs, cafés and restaurants. The city’s nightlife is buzzing and three of its restaurants have earned Michelin stars. And there is also the new street food market Aarhus Street Food, which you are sure to enjoy.

A favourite form of transport in Denmark is the bicycle and Aarhus is an ideal city to ride around and explore on two wheels.

Want another reason? Most of the museums offer free admission for anyone under eighteen!

Free tip: Since Aarhus is still not a very well-known city, you won’t have to face up to the typical mass tourism found in cities such as Paris, Vienna, Amsterdam or London.

Book your flight from Faro Airport and discover this delightful Danish city.
